Dear colleagues,
This message is to sponsor a new research fellowship position within the
PILLAR-Robots project (deadline for application, April 30th).
Please find below the details and the link to the call (in Italian, but
with a downloadable call for applications in English). The contract is
initially for 1 year but can be extended to subsequent years and possibly
associated with a doctoral programme.

A public selection, based on qualifications and interview, is hereby
announced for the award of no. 1 (one) - "*Professionalizing research grant*"
for the performance of research activities related to the Scientific Area
of "Machine learning" to be carried out at the *Institute of Cognitive
Sciences and Technologies of the CNR in Rome*, which carries out research
in the framework of the research programme "*PILLAR-Robots: Purposeful
Intrinsically Motivated Lifelong Learning Autonomous Robots*", for the
following topic: "*study and development of machine learning algorithms in
the framework of reinforcement learning, for the implementation in
autonomous artificial agents guided by intrinsic motivation*"
*Research Program*In the context of the *development of artificial systems
for intrinsically motivated open-ended learning*, the research programme
focuses on the conceptualization, formalisation and implementation of *machine
learning* tools (in particular *within the reinforcement learning framework*)
that can *support embodied artificial agents in autonomously learning to
interact with the environment.* The research will be supported by data
analysis techniques, and inspired by the literature on autonomous
open-ended learning.
*Qualifications*
To the selection may apply individuals who, whatever their nationality or
age, are in possession of the following requirements at the date of expiry
of the deadline for submission of applications:
a) Master’s Degree in* any field *(the candidate is in charge, penalty of
exclusion, of demonstrating the equivalence of held graduation diplomas);
b) All qualifications obtained abroad (degree and any other qualifications)
must, as a rule, be previously recognized in Italy in accordance with the
legislation in force on the subject (information on the website of the
Ministry of University and Scientific Research: www.miur.it). The
equivalence of the aforementioned qualifications obtained abroad that have
not already been recognized in Italy with the aforementioned formal
procedure will be assessed, solely for the purpose of admission of of the
candidate to this selection, by the selection board set up pursuant to art.
6, paragraph 1 of the Regulations.
c) Knowledge of programming languages Python and/or C++;
d) Expertise in the field of machine learning;
e) Knowledge of the reinforcement learning framework;
f) Expertise in data analysis techniques;
g) Knowledge of the intrinsic motivation framework within the computational
field;
h) Excellent knowledge of English, both written and oral;
