The Bioengineering and Robotics Research Center “E. Piaggio of the
University of Pisa is seeking for expressions of interest (EoI) for
multiple Postdoc positions in Haptics.
The envisioned activities for these positions will be financed by the grant
“PERCEIVING”, financed by the Italian Science Fund of the Ministry of
University and Research (MUR).
The main goal of this project is to design a hand wearable haptic system
and a hand sensing tool, which can effectively render and sense,
respectively, all main tactile and proprioceptive cues, minimizing resource
usage. These systems will be used and tested in telerobotics and
augmented-extended reality applications.
To reach this objective, several activities are needed and envisioned,
which include (i) mathematical and numerical modeling of the physics of
tactile interaction; (ii) psychophysical and behavioural experiments; (iii)
design, control and validation of wearable haptic systems; (iii)
integration in telerobotics and extended reality. These activities require
a variety of profiles and expertises in different fields, including
material sciences, neuroscience, biomechanics, mechatronics, robotics,
human-machine interaction.
*The envisioned starting date for these positions is the beginning of 2024.*
This call is a preliminary stage aimed at collecting EoI, and it is not a
formal opening for positions. Postdoc positions in Italy can only be
awarded through a public competition. We will contact the selected
applicants to inform about the formal opening of the positions and the
related procedure. For additional information, please email Prof. Matteo
Bianchi [matteobianchi23 at gmail.com], email subject “*PERCEIVING EoI”*.
