Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to invite submissions and participation in WasteVision
2027 - International Workshop on Smart Waste Monitoring, organized in
conjunction with WACV 2027, and in the Second International Illegal
Waste Dumping Detection (IWDD) Contest. The workshop focuses on recent
advances in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Vision for intelligent
waste monitoring, illegal dumping detection, environmental surveillance,
and real-world deployment. The increasing environmental and economic
impact of improper waste disposal calls for robust, efficient, and
scalable vision-based solutions capable of operating under challenging
and heterogeneous conditions.

WasteVision 2027 - Call for Papers
WasteVision 2027 provides a forum for researchers, practitioners, and
industry representatives to present and discuss novel methodologies,
datasets, benchmarks, and applications for smart waste and environmental
monitoring. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

- Image analysis for waste detection and classification;
- Video analysis for waste tracking and management;
- Computer Vision methods for illegal waste disposal detection;
- Multimodal systems for dumping identification;
- Remote sensing and UAV-based waste monitoring;
- Video and image analytics for pollution tracking;
- Datasets and benchmarks for waste and pollution monitoring;
- Applications and real-world case studies.
- Workshop Submission Rules
- Regular papers exceeding five pages are invited;
- Papers must follow the official WACV 2027 formatting guidelines;
- Submissions will undergo peer review through Microsoft CMT;

Accepted papers will be published in the WACV 2027 Workshops
Proceedings.

IWDD Contest 2027 - Second Edition
The International Illegal Waste Dumping Detection Contest aims to
advance real-time detection of illegal dumping events in videos acquired
by fixed CCTV cameras, with particular attention to solutions suitable
for smart cameras and embedded systems. Participants will work with the
MIVIA-IWDD dataset, containing 500 videos:

- 250 positive videos:
- 125 static disposal events;
- 125 dynamic disposal events;
- 250 negative videos.

Positive videos include temporal annotations identifying the beginning
of each dumping event. Submitted methods will be evaluated on a private
test set using Precision, Recall, and F1-Score, with F1-Score as the
main ranking criterion. GPU memory consumption will be used as a
secondary criterion when methods achieve comparable performance.

Contest Rules
Participants can request access to the training data and annotations by
contacting the organizers and specifying their team name. External
training data may also be used. Each method submission must include:

- Trained model;
- Complete source code;
- Technical report;
- test.py script for processing test videos;
- test.ipynb Google Colab notebook for dependency installation and
execution;
- All additional resources required to reproduce the method.

Participants are also strongly encouraged to submit a contest paper
describing their methodology and results. Contest papers must follow the
official WACV 2027 formatting requirements and, if accepted, will be
published in the WACV 2027 Workshops Proceedings.
