the in-person component located at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), in Pasadena, 
California. IEEE TELEPRESENCE 2024 will feature keynote and invited speakers, technical 
presentations, and demonstrations to enrich fruitful discussions.

IEEE TELEPRESENCE 2024 will also host the Telepresence Competition on November 15, 2024. The goal of 
the Telepresence Competition will be for teams to demonstrate telepresence capabilities of robotic 
vehicles that navigate high desert terrains analog to lunar environments. Teams will need to 
demonstrate telepresence capabilities of their robotic vehicles while navigating desert terrains 
analog to lunar environments. Two tracks will be available: A) Sloped terrain – testing mobility on 
slopes with sand and rocks; B) Soft Soil and Lunar Regolith Simulant mobility – flat terrain with 
sand and lunar regolith simulant. Two modalities of entries will be supported: 1) with your own 
robots, and 2) with robots provided by the organizers. Various prizes will be awarded, including a 
$5,000 prize for the winning team will be provided by the IEEE Telepresence Initiative!

We are calling for submissions of short papers (up to 4 pages) and technical abstracts (up to 2 
pages) for late-breaking research or industrial research outcomes and/or demonstrations, as well as 
submission of team participation proposals for the Telepresence Competition. Note that accepted 
short papers will appear on IEEE Xplore, while research/industry abstracts will appear in the 
conference proceedings, but not on IEEE Xplore.
