Aims and Scope

Regulating the autonomy of AI systems is a crucial challenge in AI,
especially in contexts where the systems are immersed in and interact with
human society. In these cases, the systems need the ability to operate and
learn autonomously, while understanding when their decisions are unsafe,
questionable, or unethical, and thus human supervision is required. Since
situations are more and more frequent where systems exhibiting a high
degree of autonomy are embodied into physical devices, such as robots, this
form of adjustable autonomy also needs to take into account the
peculiarities of the devices where the systems are physically embodied. In
order to unify these two perspectives, scientific foundations, techniques,
and tools for adjustable autonomy need to be devised, so as to equip
software and/or physical AI systems with the required abilities to operate
and learn in human environments, while being trustworthy and fully
integrated in the environment.

The objective of the workshop is to serve as a forum for researchers
interested in investigating all the aspects of combining adjustable
autonomy and physical embodied intelligence, to openly discuss relevant
issues, research and development progress, future directions, and open
challenges.

Since the primary goal is to foster the discussion about ideas related to
the WS topics, we welcome contributions reporting on original, published,
or ongoing work in the area.

Workshop Format and Submissions

The workshop program will include one oral presentation for each accepted
paper. Additionally, one or two invited speakers working in related areas
will also be part of the program. The expected duration is one full day.

We solicit submissions of papers covering any aspect of interest for
Adjustable Autonomy and Physical Embodied Intelligence. Recent work
currently submitted to or accepted at other conferences and/or journals is
also eligible for presentation.

Typical contributions relate (but are not limited) to the following topics:

Authors can choose one of the following submission options:

   Extended Abstract: 2 to 4 pages, not included in proceedings
   -

   Short Paper: 5 pages (excluding references)
   -

   Regular Paper: 6 to 10 pages (excluding references)
