The *Research Center in Robotics and Bioengineering "Enrico Piaggio" and
the Department of Information Engineering DII* of the University of Pisa
are seeking for expressions of interest (EoI) for multiple Post Doc
positions in the following areas:* 1)* *rehabilitation and assistive
robotics*, with a special focus on the design and control of robotic
devices and interfaces targeting the support for, and the recovery of, the
sensory-motor functions of human upper limb in pathological conditions *2)
wearable haptics *in multiple domains of advanced human-machine
interaction, which include cobotics, ergonomics enhancement, augmented and
virtual reality, telerobotics and surgical robotics, blind people mobility
assistance; *3) tactile sensing and active sensing techniques* for
autonomous robotic manipulation and shared-control bilateral teleoperation,
with special focus on medical applications.

The candidate should ideally have a PhD in robotics or bioengineering
(although not mandatory) and a strong interest in scientific research in
haptics, robotics and bioengineering, scientific curiosity, large autonomy
and ability to work independently. This call is a preliminary stage aimed
to collect EoI, and it is not a formal opening for positions. On the basis
of the collected EoIs, we will decide whether or not to open a position.
Post-Doc positions in Italy can only be awarded through a public
competition. We will contact the selected applicants to inform about the
formal opening of the positions and the related procedure. For additional
information, contact Prof. Matteo Bianchi [matteobianchi23 at gmail.com].

*About the University of Pisa, the Research Center in Robotics and
Bioengineering "Enrico Piaggio" and the Department of Information
Engineering DII *

*The University of Pisa (UNIPI)*, founded in 1343, is among the oldest and
most prestigious universities in Europe, with alumni such as Galilei,
Volterra and Fermi.

The *"Enrico Piaggio" Research Centre*, founded in 1962, organizes
interdisciplinary research among engineering, medicine, and biological
scientists towards applications in Bioengineering and Robotics. The "Enrico
Piaggio" Research Centre has long standing experience in managing contracts
with international, EU, and industrial partners. The Robotics group focuses
on robotics and embodied intelligence.
The group is among the originators of the modern approach to physical
human-robot interaction, with a particular attention
to the study of compliant actuators, hands and haptics, human tactual
perception and the relationship between perceptual illusions in the visual
and tactile domains.

The *Department of Information Engineering (DII)* is an Excellence Center
for Research and Higher Education in the field of Information and
CommunicationTechnology (ICT), Robotics and Bioengineering It runs an
intense activity in Higher Education for about 4000 students and 200 PhD
students. In 2018 DII was selected by the Italian Minister of Education as
"Department of Excellence" with the project CrossLab, aiming to support the
revolution of Industry 4.0 in Italy by creating interdisciplinary research
labs
