TU Wien (Technische Universität Wien) opens ten Phd and PD positions in the field of robotics (dynamics, learning, and control).
Topic Area 1: Control for elastic robots under constraints and impacts
Topic Area 2: Optimization based control for collaborative robots
Topic Area 3: Interaction control for underactuated robots (such as Soft Material based Robots)
Topic Area 4: Dynamic Locomotion and whole-body control of humanoid robots
Topic Area 5: (Reinforcement) Learning for model based hierarchical multi-task control
Topic Area 6: Human robot interaction design for effective robot programming
Topic Area 7: Autonomous robot learning of complex manipulation tasks
Topic Area 8: Development of learning algorithms for human-centered assistive robots
Topic Area 9: Development of the computational learning model of human robot collaborative tasks
Topic Area 10: Study on the plasticity of body representation within the context of a goal-directed human-human collaborative task

Ten positions are opened within two new research groups at TU Wien. Topic areas 1-5 will be supervised by Christian Ott in a new research group in the Automation and Control Institute (ACIN). Topic areas 6-10 will be supervised by Dongheui Lee in the new lab "Autonomous Systems" in the Institute of Computer Technology at TU Wien from April 2022. She has led the Human-centered Assistive Robotics lab at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and the Human-centered assistive robotics group at the German Aerospace Center (DLR). Requirements
-       MSc degree (robotics, electrical/mechanical engineering, computer science)
-       For topic area 1-5: Solid background in control (linear and nonlinear), Good understanding of mechanical modeling & dynamics
-       For topic area 6-9: Solid background in robotics and machine learning, Good understanding of control, mechanical modeling, interdisciplinary thinking
-       For topic area 10: psychology, human movement science, interdisciplinary thinking
-       Programming in Matlab/Simulink, C/C++, (Python)
-       Experience with ROS, simulators, or hardware is a plus
-       Proficiency in writing and speaking English

Positions
The positions are full time funded and follow the regulatory union salary system, depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications. The earliest possible starting date is April 2022.
