Swetaly workshop on the theme of AI

This is a reminder of the upcoming Swetaly workshop on the theme of AI. Welcome to register your participation in the link below - last day to register is tomorrow Friday January 14th! For those who registered, instructions for how to connect to the workshop will be sent to you prior to the event.

The Swetaly University collaboration brings together Swedish and Italian universities to interact on a number of strategic areas with the aim to strengthen academic relations between the two countries. The two areas that are at focus are ageing, and artificial intelligence. Swetaly was launched in 2019 and today consists of 17 Swedish universities and 16 Italian universities.

Örebro University together with Gothenburg University is tasked with organising workshops and activities within each of the strategic areas involving researchers in both countries. Örebro University now arrange the first digital Swetaly workshop within the topic of AI. A particular objective of the workshop is to encourage collaborations that would allow for joint EU projects. 
About the workshop
The workshop will take place January 20th 2022 from 13.00-16.30 (in Zoom). The agenda for the workshop is attached.

There will be two sessions and themes at the workshop - AI & Robotics, and AI & Covid-19:
AI & Robotics 
Robotics and AI have been intermingled since the beginning. For many years the AI and the robotics communities proceeded on parallel paths. In the last years, the performances and the capabilities of robots and artificial intelligence systems have shown impressive advances and call for deeper integration of the two disciplines. This workshop will be the opportunity for cross-fertilization and contamination among the researchers.
AI & Covid-19
Covid-19 has changed how we work and interact with each other. The software has become one of the primary enablers of the worldwide speed-up of digitalization. In this workshop, we discuss topics related to the digitalization of society and specifically the use of artificial intelligence to address challenges caused by the ongoing pandemic. The discussion is open to the contributions of AI researchers to different aspects of the pandemic. Some examples might be the prediction of the virus diffusion in the population, new diagnostic tools, techniques to study the virus structure and replication, the study of societal changes induced by the pandemic, intelligent systems to support Covid-19 patients and doctors.

The workshop will start with a high level introductions where the Swedish Ambassador to Italy (among others) are confirmed to open the afternoon.
Within each theme there will then be one opening speaker, and several presentations from researchers conducting research in the topic.

The workshop will focus on collaboration and finding common denominators between participating researchers. Therefore, several opportunities for mingling will be included in the afternoon.
